Overalls Street Style - How To Wear

This fashion trend is super cute, comfy and the perfect daytime outfit. Another benefit to this trend is that it is so effortless.  I can't remember the last time I wore overalls (or as i like to call them Dungarees), and I'm liking the more updated overalls in a more slim cut than what I had back in the day.  Overalls are a very specific trend that holds an array of (often strong) opinions. One of the most controversial aspects of overalls is found within the styling. It’s easy for overalls to go wrong, whether they’re ill-fitting, farmer brown look, or childlike. Yet somehow bloggers and fashion innovators alike seem to constantly pull off the look.

Luckily, there are a few styling tips that can steer you in this direction, assisting you in rocking a pair of overalls. Just in time for the summer!

One of the easiest ways to wear the trend is to keep it simple! Go for dark, black denim wash — they can be paired with pretty much anything! Keeping the summer season in mind, pairing the overalls with a simple white t-shirt and sandals is a great go-to. Make sure the overalls have a tapered leg, almost like a skinny jean. This allows for a sleek and simple look.

For some people, overalls just look and feel too much. For a less constricting feel, as well as a more subtle statement, try a pair of cut-off overalls (or shortalls).  Cut-off overalls look great with a thin and fitted turtleneck, or a high neck tank.

There are so many varieties of overalls.  From linen to jersey to corduroy, there are tons of alternative fabric options that may suit you better than denim.  You’d be surprised as to how many overall variations you can find.

Sometimes the best way to embrace a tricky trend is by going all out. One of my favourite overall styles are wide leg or flared fit. Look for a dark blue denim wash, and try pairing them with a fitted striped t-shirt. Remember to accessorise and style minimally, as the flare already provides a wow factor. This is a look that is guaranteed to turn some heads!

A simple and fun way to rock overalls is through accessorising. After you find the best fit and style, try playing with interesting jewellery, like statement necklaces or chokers.  While your main focus might be on what goes underneath your overalls, think again. Overalls can be styled nicely with jackets and coats.

Light Topping: Summer Bomber Jackets

I am loving these light weight Summer bomber jackets.  The baggy, kind-of sporty silhouette is the ultimate topper, regardless of your personal style. While it can be tough to think about outwear when you're busy dripping sweat everywhere you go, a light jacket is still key in the summer months — you never know when you're going to encounter a temp drop.

The bomber featured heavily on the Spring/Summer 2016 catwalks with designers from Saint Laurent to Louis Vuitton to Gucci sending their models down the catwalks in heavily embroidered silk bomber jackets, paired with metallic midi skirts and elaborate patterned trousers.

Here's what I've learned about about rocking the bomber jacket during the heat and how you can rock it even better this summer.

Choosing a bomber that has a light weight material like silk will keep you cool in the summer heat without having to pass on the trend that everyone is loving.

A sheer bomber is the most breathable way to do summer outerwear.

Okay so maybe you don't have the budget to get a new silk jacket or you love your current bomber way too much to give it up to the summer heat. Draping the your favourite bomber over your shoulders is a simple way to wear the style but keep it as cool as possible when you're out and about.

We all know that the metallic colour is back now! So why not to add these two trends together? Metallic + bomber, such a great combo!  Embroidery is so cool and just adds an extra touch to the look.

Pair your bomber with your new summer pieces! This may seem obvious but so many people put away their winter clothing for the summer and they forget that many winter pieces like your favourite bomber can be paired with your favourite looks for summer. Instead of wearing jeans and booties opt for a dress and some flats.

How to wear High waisted trousers

There's something about the new styles of high-waisted pants that are too good to pass up.  Flattering and hip-skimming, it’s no surprise that high waisted pants keep returning to the catwalk.  High-waisted pants can elongate the legs to make you look taller and hide your muffin top.  If you have bought yourself a pair of high waisted pants and not sure how to style them, this post is for you.

The natural waistline, being the narrowest part of the torso, is where high waist pants would look most flattering. If you want to create a hourglass like look, then this is the best way to go about it.

High waisted pants work best with tucked in shirts and look very classy. - What’s the point of wearing high-waist pants if you’re only going to be covering them with a top? The good thing is, almost any style works. Plaid shirts, long-sleeve tops, or your favourite tee — go ahead and tuck them into high-waist pants and transform your look in an instant.

Crop tops bring out the best look of high waisted pants. Pair your your pants with stylish crop tops and look hot and trendy.

Like most things in fashion, high waist pants look infinitely better when they’re in your correct size.  Whether you prefer straight or cropped, ensure they fit well.

With both straight and flared high waist pants, you will want the hem just at the top of the toes.  Any longer and they’ll just bunch up around the legs, making you look shorter.

Keep your top simple.  High waist pants already have lots of volume and provide lots of coverage, and a blousy top made of a lot of fabric will compete with that.
